We have some exciting news! We had another student join our family. Mackenzie started on Monday and we are so happy to have her in our class. The boys were surprised to find out that football is her favorite thing to play at recess and I heard that she is a star running back! She also enjoys using her new Chromebook! We welcomed her with a decorated banner and a dance party!
Now that we shared some exciting news, we also got a little sad news. Next Thursday is Mrs. C's last day at LaPerche. She is retiring to spend more time taking care of her grandchildren, especially her new twin grandsons! She will truly be missed, but we know she will certainly visit us and keep in touch. She came around to each classroom and told us her news. There were a few tears and a lot of hugs! We love you and will miss you, Mrs. C!
We definitely enjoyed the nice weather today and were lucky enough to get outside for writing.(although it was very windy!) We used a graphic organizer called 'Grow a Poem'. The kids went to the field and laid on the ground and wrote what they smelled, saw, felt, touched, and tasted. They did an amazing job and will add these to their Poetry Portfolio. We are already up 7 poems written! We hope you got your "Save the Date" for our Poetry Cafe on May 10th. It's going to be a great night with our reading buddies and families.
In Math, we have moved on from fractions to measurement and time. This week, we explored milliliters and liters. We did some fun activities; predicting how much water can fit in a container and then testing our hypotheses. We also converted many mL to L and L to mL. Next week we will learn about kilograms and grams and get to predict and weigh many objects. This is such a fun chapter for the kids (and us too!) Thank you to Miss Pringle to creating such fun activities!
