Hi everyone! We have been so busy and the kids can't wait to tell you what's been going on in 3E! These blogs were written by the class!

We are doing lots of things in 3E right now so let's get into it! We are still going to Ms. Paolino’s to read to her kindergarten class and have them read to us. We love being reading buddies with them. They recently got a set of Kindles and we are excited to use them. The kindergarten kids will show us how to use them and we will show them how to use our Chromebooks! Another thing is Mrs. Sczerbinski is having a kindness challenge. It is a random acts of kindness chain. If you do an act of kindness, you get to add a ring to you kindness chain. Mrs. Sczerbinski wants the chain to be so long that it wraps around the school! So far we have 256 rings and we think our class will win it. We love doing acts of kindness!
Science
By: Said and Tyler
Since our science kit is complete, we have been doing STEM challenges. We were engineers. The first challenge was who could build the tallest tower using one jumbo marshmallow, pasta, string and tape. The second challenge was to see who could build the tallest tower using cups and the winners were Cameron, Nathan, Anthony and Camdyn. The third challenge was making silly hats out of pipe cleaners. The last challenge was when we had to make the tallest tower out of cups, popsicle sticks and clay and we had the choice to make our own tower and take it home! They were so much fun and we loved that we got to use our creativity! Check our pictures below!

We have been loving the weather lately! Even though it is windy and a little cold, we are still having fun outside!
Math
By: Maya and Aliana
In math we are learning about fractions. We just ended equivalent fractions. We have used number lines and fractions tiles too. Miss Pringle created a giant number line in the classroom and some of the classmates got to represent fractions on the numberline. Miss Pringle has also been teaching equivalent fractions on the whiteboard. We have become really good at solving those problems. Now we are starting comparing fractions and it will be so much fun to learn. Every lesson we do fun activities and get to work together! These pictures show us creating word problems using real life pictures of fractions. For example, we had a picture of a pan of brownies cut into ninths and we had to come up with word problems for our partners to solve. It was so much fun!

Writing
By: Madeline and Sophia
In writing, we are writing color poems. We are choosing a person that we love and using a color that reminds us about them. We are writing things that is that color, for example if you chose the color green, you could write green grass on a hot summer day and trees swaying in the breeze. We have also been practicing locating adverbs, verbs, adjectives and nouns. We got into groups and each group got a newspaper. We had to do a scavenger hunt through the newspaper to find those parts of speech and sort them on posters. We then had to practice putting them in sentences and we will correct each other’s sentences to see if all of the parts of speech are included! It was so much fun!

In pickleball you only have 1 partner and you have games until the championship. In the championship everyone watches it. The winners of the 3E tournament were Addison and Benjamin! Way to go guys! In music we are having a show at the high school on Tuesday night! We are playing Celebration, Drag Me Down, and the Hoe Down Throw Down. We are playing La Bamba on our recorders. We hope you can make it!

Reading
By: Anthony D. and Parker
In our guided reading groups this is what we usually do! We read books from Reading Street. We talk about vocabulary and make predictions and answer comprehension questions. We also read chapter books. Group one is reading Stone Fox, group two is reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and groups three and four are reading SuperFudge. We do fun activities with our chapter books and write in our response journals. We also go on our Chromebooks and log onto Tumble books and listen to stories and watch videos. This helps with our fluency. We love reading!
